Our Mission Statement

The Akrofi-Christaller Memorial Centre for Mission Research and Applied Theology, as a scholarly institution established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to serve the wider Christian community, is committed to pursuing excellence in both its academic and pastoral concerns, relating to the twin foci of research and publication on the life and witness of the Churches in Ghana and Africa as a whole, and mission training and renewal programmes for church workers.
As a Presbyterian and evangelical initiative and a pastoral institution, the Centre seeks to remain faithful to, and to expound within the Church, the Reformation and evangelical roots of the PCG and other Reformation churches. It affirms the Trinity, the Scriptures as the Word of God, the uniqueness of Jesus Christ as sole Redeemer and Lord, the regenerating and sanctifying role of the Holy Spirit in the individual and in the Church and His enabling in Christian witness to society and in the world. It is committed to a spiritual view of life, to the spiritual renewal of the churches, and to socio-political and cultural transformation through the Gospel.
As an academic institution, the Centre is committed to Christian scholarship and seeks to develop academic programmes that provide adequate tools for serious and creative research into African Christianity and to offer new opportunities for meaningful and relevant theological research and publication.
As an institution dedicated to mission and ministry, the Centre seeks to serve the wider Christian community, in Ghana, Africa and even further afield, by focusing its research and training on issues of Christian mission and ministry in the African context, in order to help the Christian community in Africa to better understand its task and to witness more effectively to the Kingdom of God.
As a community of Christians working together, the Centre is committed to exhibiting in its internal relationships, mutual caring and concern, appreciation of each other's varied gifts, and openness to learn from one another in the service of Jesus Christ.
As a partner within a wider network of African Christian and Two -Thirds World institutions, the Centre is committed to understanding and communicating the growing significance of African Christianity both in its actual and potential impact in socio-political and cultural development within the continent, and in its unique contribution to world Christianity.
