ONGOING ACTIVITIES

 |
The Centre's major concerns lie in three areas:
Documentation of the life of the church through written records, and the use of audio-visual recording to capture the oral history of the Church and history in the making and the challenges to mission and ministry;
Research into the history and theology of Christianity in Africa, into the relationship of Gospel and culture and into the Church's impact in socio-political transformation, and the wider dissemination of such research in publications;
Training in the form of postgraduate programmes designed to equip Christian workers for the challenges of mission and ministry in Africa and also continuing education and spiritual renewal for Church and Christian workers, whereby the fruits of documentation and research are fed into, and are tested in, practical programmes, and grassroots concerns are fed back into documentation and research.
Its programme and activities include:
Postgraduate facilitation and mentoring for students from different parts of Africa and the Diaspora Continuing education for pastors and lay leaders, particularly in the areas of mission and ministry in a pluralist context
Documentation and recording of the oral history and theology of churches in Ghana and also other parts of Africa
A vigorous publications programme, including theses, historical and theological studies and studies of vital issues for social and cultural transformation. The Centre publishes its own internationally refereed journal, the Journal of African Christian Thought.
Research and writing in the area of Gospel and culture, including mother-tongue commentary projects in several Ghanaian languages.
